Terms for Customers

Last updated: 16 October 2026

These terms apply when you use Pros Near Me to search for a tradesperson or professional, or to post a job. Please read them before you post a job. If you list a business on Pros Near Me, the Terms for Pros apply instead.

1. Who we are

Pros Near Me is a trading name of Clearing Agent Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (Company No. 11074965), registered office 47 Sperling Road, London N17 6UQ (“we”, “us”). You can contact us at info@prosnearme.co.uk.

2. What we do – and what we don’t

We run an online service that introduces customers to independent businesses (“pros”). We are not a party to any contract between you and a pro, we don’t employ or supervise pros, and we don’t carry out, guarantee or insure any work.

3. Using the service

  • The service is free for customers. You must be 18 or over.
  • Give accurate information about yourself and your job, and only post genuine jobs that are lawful.
  • Don’t misuse the service – for example by posting spam, harassing pros or trying to access other people’s information.
  • We may decline or remove a job that breaks these terms.

4. How matching and ranking work

When you post a job, we send it to up to 5 pros who offer that service, have passed our checks, have an active subscription and whose coverage area includes your postcode. In search results and matches, pros with a paid Featured listing for that service and area are shown first and are always labelled “Featured”. All other pros are ordered by distance from you. Pros cannot pay to improve their position in any other way.

5. Verification

Before a pro goes live we check the document or register entry shown on their profile (for example insurance, Gas Safe or SRA registration). This is a check at a point in time. It is not a guarantee of the pro’s skill, conduct or the quality of their work, and documents can lapse. You should make your own checks before you hire anyone.

6. Your contract with a pro

  • Any contract for work is made directly between you and the pro you choose. You pay them directly; we never collect payment for a job.
  • Your legal rights in relation to the work, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, are against the pro.
  • Agree the price, scope and timescale in writing before work starts. If you agree a contract in your home, you may have a right to cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 – the pro must tell you about it.

7. Reviews

If you told us which pro you chose, you can review them. Reviews must be honest and based on your own experience. Our Review Policy explains the rules and how we moderate reviews.

8. Your personal data

We share your job description, the name you gave and your postcode area with matched pros. We never show them your e-mail address or phone number. See our Privacy Notice for full details.

9. Our responsibility to you

  • If we fail to comply with these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
  • We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of any pro, including the quality, price, safety or outcome of any work, any damage they cause or any payment you make to them.
  • We provide the service for domestic and private use. We are not liable for any loss of profit, business or opportunity.
  • Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights.

10. Availability and changes

We try to keep the service running but can’t promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change or stop the service. We may update these terms; the version shown when you post a job applies to that job.

11. Complaints

If you’re unhappy with our service, please follow our Complaints Procedure. For problems with work done by a pro, contact the pro first; we can suspend pros who receive serious, substantiated complaints.

12. Law and courts

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts of your home nation. If you live in the European Union, you also keep any protection given to you by the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
