Review Policy
Last updated: 16 October 2026
Reviews only help if you can trust them. This policy explains who can leave a review, what isn’t allowed, and how we check and moderate reviews, in line with the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (DMCC Act) and guidance from the Competition and Markets Authority.
1. Who can leave a review
- Only a customer we matched with a pro through Pros Near Me.
- Only for the pro the customer told us they chose for that job.
- One review per job. Reviews are left through the customer’s private job link, which only the customer receives.
Pros cannot review themselves, and we don’t accept reviews by e-mail or from people who weren’t matched.
2. What isn’t allowed
- Fake reviews, or reviews that don’t reflect a genuine experience.
- Reviews written, commissioned or edited by a pro, their staff, family or friends, or by a competitor.
- Offering or accepting money, discounts, gifts or any other incentive for a review.
- Pressuring a customer to leave, change or remove a review.
- Abusive, discriminatory or threatening content, or content that includes other people’s personal details.
Under the DMCC Act, submitting or commissioning fake reviews, and concealing incentivised reviews, are banned. Pros who break these rules will be suspended and may be reported to the authorities.
3. How we show reviews
- We publish positive and negative reviews alike. We don’t hide, reorder or suppress reviews to make a pro look better.
- Pros cannot pay to remove, hide or improve reviews. A Featured listing has no effect on reviews.
- A pro’s average rating and review count are calculated from all published reviews.
4. Reporting a review
If you think a review breaks this policy, e-mail info@prosnearme.co.uk with a link to the pro’s profile, the review and your reason. We may hide a reported review while we look into it.
5. How we moderate
- We review reports promptly and may contact the reviewer or the pro for more information.
- We remove a review only if it breaks this policy – not because it is negative.
- We tell the person who reported it what we decided.
- We keep records of reports and decisions so we can spot patterns of abuse.
6. Questions or complaints
If you disagree with a decision, follow our Complaints Procedure.
