Privacy Notice
Last updated: 16 October 2026
This notice explains how we collect and use personal data when you use Pros Near Me, and your rights. It applies under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 and, where it applies to you, the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
1. Who we are
The data controller is Clearing Agent Ltd (Company No. 11074965), trading as Pros Near Me, registered office 47 Sperling Road, London N17 6UQ. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under number ZC131559. For anything about your data, e-mail info@prosnearme.co.uk.

Everyone
- Messages you send us.
- Technical data needed to run and secure the site, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in server logs.

3. Why we use it and our lawful basis
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Matching a customer’s job with local pros and sending the replies | Contract – providing the service you asked for |
| Sharing a job’s description, name and postcode area with matched pros | Contract – this is how the service works |
| Creating and running pro profiles and accounts | Contract |
| Checking pros’ documents and registrations | Legitimate interests – keeping the marketplace safe and trustworthy |
| Subscriptions, payments and invoices | Contract; legal obligation (accounting and tax records) |
| Publishing and moderating reviews | Legitimate interests – honest reviews; legal obligation under the DMCC Act 2024 |
| Service e-mails (job alerts, replies, account messages) | Contract |
| Answering enquiries and handling complaints | Legitimate interests |
| Preventing fraud and misuse, and keeping the service secure | Legitimate interests; legal obligation |
| Establishing or defending legal claims | Legitimate interests |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, you can object – see section 8.
4. Automated matching
Our system automatically chooses which pros receive a job, based on the service, the pro’s coverage area, their verification and subscription status, any Featured listing and distance. This does not produce legal or similarly significant effects for you, but you can ask us to explain or review a match.
5. Who we share it with
- Matched pros see a customer’s job description, name and postcode area – never their e-mail address or phone number. Customers see the contact details of pros who say they’re interested.
- The public can see pro profiles and published reviews.
- Our service providers, who process data only on our instructions:
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase, Inc. | Database, sign-in and document storage | United Kingdom (London region) |
| Stripe Payments UK, Ltd. | Subscription payments for pros | UK, EU and USA |
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Website hosting, security and service e-mail delivery | Global infrastructure, including the UK, EU and USA |
- To find a location, we send the postcode only – no name or contact details – to postcodes.io, a free public postcode lookup service.
- Professional advisers, insurers, and the police, regulators or courts where the law requires it or to protect our rights.
- A buyer of our business, if it is ever sold, under the same protections.
We never sell personal data.
6. International transfers
Our main database is in the United Kingdom. Some providers may process data outside the UK or EEA (for example in the USA). Where they do, we rely on adequacy regulations or on safeguards approved under UK and EU law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Contact us for details.
7. How long we keep it
- Job requests and matches: 24 months after the job is posted, then deleted or anonymised.
- Published reviews: while the pro’s profile is live, and up to 24 months after it closes.
- Pro profiles: while your account is open. Verification documents: while your profile is active and for 12 months after.
- Billing and accounting records: 6 years, as required by law.
- Messages and complaints: up to 24 months after the matter is closed.
8. Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, give it to you or another organisation in a portable format, or stop using it where we rely on legitimate interests. E-mail info@prosnearme.co.uk. We will reply within one month and may need to confirm your identity. Some rights have exceptions, for example where we must keep records by law.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited to staff who need it, and verification documents are kept in private storage that only our team can open. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you where the law requires it.
10. Children
The service is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
11. Visitors from the EU
Pros Near Me is a UK service. If the EU GDPR applies to you, you have the same rights described above and may also complain to the data protection authority in the EU country where you live or work.
12. Complaints
Please contact us first so we can try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113.
