FAQ for pros

Can’t find your answer? Contact us. Looking for a pro? See the FAQ for customers.

How much does it cost?

Starter is £19 a month (1 service, up to 15 miles). Pro is £39 a month (up to 3 services, up to 40 miles). A Featured listing is an optional £25 a month per service and area. Prices exclude VAT where applicable.

Are there lead fees or commission?

No. You pay one flat monthly fee. We never charge per enquiry, per job or as a percentage of what you earn.

What is the Founding Member offer?

The first 500 pros to subscribe get their first 3 months free. After the free period your plan continues at the normal monthly price unless you cancel before it ends. We’ll show the date your first payment is due when you subscribe.

Is there a contract? How do I cancel?

There’s no minimum term. Plans run month to month and you can cancel any time from your account. Your plan stays active until the end of the month you’ve already paid for and you won’t be charged again. We don’t refund part-months, except where the law requires it.

What documents do I need?

It depends on your trade: Builder – Public liability insurance; Handyman – Public liability insurance; House clearance – Waste carrier licence (Environment Agency); Electrician – NICEIC or NAPIT registration; Plumber – Public liability insurance; Gas engineer – Gas Safe registration; Painter & decorator – Public liability insurance; Gardener – Public liability insurance; Cleaner – Public liability insurance; Accountant – ICAEW / ACCA / AAT membership and AML supervision; Architect – ARB registration; Structural engineer – Engineering Council registration (CEng / IEng); Solicitor – SRA registration. Upload them from your account. Your profile goes live only after we’ve checked them.

How long does verification take?

We check documents in the order we receive them and e-mail you when it’s done. If something is missing or unclear we’ll tell you what we need. Keep your documents up to date: if one expires, we may pause your profile until you upload a new one.

How do job alerts work?

When a customer posts a job for a service you offer and their postcode is inside your coverage area, you may be one of up to 5 pros we alert by e-mail. Open the job in your account and choose “I’m interested” or “Not this time”. If you’re interested, the customer sees your contact details and gets in touch with you directly.

Will I see the customer’s phone number or e-mail?

No. You see the job description, the customer’s name and their postcode area. The customer decides who to contact. This protects customers and means you only hear from people who chose you.

What is a Featured listing?

For £25 a month you appear first in search results and are alerted first for one service in one area (for example, Builder in CM0). There are at most 3 Featured pros per service per area. Featured listings are always labelled as paid placements. Featured does not guarantee any number of jobs.

Can I change my plan?

Yes. Switch plans from your account. An upgrade starts immediately and Stripe charges the prorated difference. A downgrade also starts immediately and its prorated difference becomes credit on your Stripe account; first reduce your profile to Starter’s one-service and 15-mile limits. Use billing management to update your card, download invoices or cancel.

Can I ask customers for reviews?

You can remind a customer you worked with that they can leave a review. You must not write reviews yourself, ask friends or family to, offer anything in return for a review, or pressure anyone to change or remove one. Breaking these rules is unlawful under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 and will lead to suspension. See our Review Policy.

Why might my profile be suspended?

For example if you give us false information, your verification lapses, you receive serious and substantiated complaints, you manipulate reviews, you misuse customer information or your payments fail. We’ll normally tell you why and give you a chance to respond. Full details are in the Terms for Pros.

What is Pros Near Me not responsible for?

We don’t guarantee how many jobs or enquiries you’ll get, and we’re not an employment agency or a party to your contracts with customers. You are responsible for your work, quotes, insurance, licences, tax and for complying with the law, including data protection when customers contact you.
